Choose your chorus using Start and End below. If the high notes feel strained, try lower. If the low notes are hard to reach, try higher. Each step plays the same passage; keep the most comfortable key. This is a listening guide, not automatic voice analysis.

Change song pitch without changing speed
Use this free audio pitch changer to move a recording into a different key for singing, playing along or rehearsing. Open your song, choose a small pitch shift and leave Speed at 100% to keep the original tempo. Positive semitones raise the recording; negative semitones lower it. One semitone is one half step, and two semitones make a whole step. Fine tuning in cents is available for smaller adjustments: 100 cents equals one semitone.
The pitch and speed controls work independently. If the key already suits you but a passage is too fast, leave Pitch at zero and reduce Speed instead. At 75%, a 60-second recording becomes 80 seconds long. At 100% speed, changing the pitch keeps the decoded sample count. The tool shifts the complete mix, including voices and instruments; it does not rewrite individual melody notes.
| Your goal | Pitch | Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Sing a whole step lower | −2 semitones | 100% |
| Raise the backing track a whole step | +2 semitones | 100% |
| Practise a fast phrase more slowly | 0 semitones | 75% |
Find a comfortable song key by listening
You do not need to know a note name to get started. Open “Not sure which key? Try singing along”, select the chorus using Start and End, and use Try lower or Try higher. Each step changes the pitch by one semitone and plays the same passage, making the comparison easier. Keep this key applies your chosen settings to the full recording. Listen through the other verses too: a comfortable chorus does not guarantee that every low note will fit.
If you already know the original and target keys, use the manual musical-key selector. For example, shifting C major down two semitones gives B-flat major. Neither selector detects the song’s key or measures your voice. The guide to choosing a singing key explains how to compare known melody and voice ranges.
Preview, repeat and download your practice track
Set Start and End around the phrase you want to hear. Preview section prepares up to ten seconds of changed audio from that selection; with the full track selected, Quick preview starts at the beginning. Switch between Changed preview and Original excerpt to compare. Original keeps its original pitch and tempo. Excerpts are processed separately, so their sound or level can differ slightly from the full result. Apply changes and listen to the full track before keeping it.
Use A-B looping to repeat a tricky phrase, or name a rehearsal section to recall its boundaries and settings. You can download the whole track or export the selected loop with repeated copies. Smooth loop edges adds short fades at each join; leave it off if you need the direct joins. A failed or cancelled Apply & download does not save the previous result as though it were the new one.
MP3 and WAV exports, with clear limits
Choose 16-bit WAV for an uncompressed practice copy, 24-bit WAV to retain more numerical precision from the rendered result, or MP3 for a smaller file. MP3 bitrates range from 128 to 320 kbps. A 24-bit export cannot restore detail missing from the original recording, and MP3 introduces lossy compression. The audio processing notes explain sample rates, output levels and the differences between Music and Practice modes.
Processing runs in your browser without an account or audio-upload service. Open one mono or stereo file at a time, up to 500 MB and 60 minutes; memory limits can restrict demanding combinations further. Input support depends on your browser’s audio decoder. Large pitch shifts can change vocal character or soften short attacks, so compare modest shifts first. This tool does not remove vocals, apply note-by-note Auto-Tune or export edited video. Read the pitch changer FAQ for preview and download help, or the privacy details for browser storage behavior.
A little lower can make
a big difference.
If a song feels just out of reach, try −2 semitones. Keep the speed at 100%, listen again, and adjust until the melody sits comfortably.
