Audio pitch changer FAQ

A few useful answers about your track, your settings and your download.

Can I change pitch without changing speed?

Yes. Leave speed at 100%, adjust pitch and apply changes. Pitch moves in half steps (semitones); 100 cents equals one semitone. Speed has a separate control.

Which processing mode should I use?

Start with Music, then try Practice at the same settings if you hear artifacts. They use different processing methods and can sound different on voices, sustained notes, percussion and layered tracks. Practice can move the timing of short attacks or file endings. Compare those parts before keeping it. Apply changes after switching. Playback and download use the mode you last applied.

Will the audio sound exactly like the original?

No pitch-shifting algorithm is transparent on every recording. Large shifts can soften attacks or change the tone of vocals. Start with a small shift and compare the result with the original before downloading.

Which files can I open and download?

You can open audio your browser can decode, commonly MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC. Codec support varies by browser. Limits are 500 MB, 60 minutes and two channels, with an additional decoded-memory limit. Download 16-bit or 24-bit WAV or 128–320 kbps MP3. For a loop download, choose 1–100 total copies, up to 10 minutes for repeated exports. Copies join directly by default. Smooth loop edges adds short 5 ms fades at both ends of each copy without changing its duration. Turn looping on to preview the fades; loop downloads use the same section. Edge samples change when smoothing is enabled. MP3 is lossy. Downloads include delay and padding metadata so compatible players can trim encoder padding; support varies by player. Loud MP3 exports are lowered to leave 2 dB of encoding headroom; the download message shows any level change. WAV and playback retain the rendered level.

Can I hear new settings without processing the full track?

In either mode, choose Start and End for your chorus or verse, then choose Preview section to prepare up to 10 seconds. With the whole track selected, Quick preview starts at the beginning. Press Play preview and switch between Changed preview and Original excerpt. Original keeps its original pitch and tempo; the clock follows Changed. Changing settings or section clears the old preview. Excerpts are processed separately and can sound slightly different from a full render; full-track peak protection can also change the level. Apply changes to check the full result before downloading. Not sure which key? The singing guide lets you try one step lower or higher on the same passage, then keep your chosen key. It does not detect your voice or select a key automatically.

Can I apply changes and download in one step?

Yes. Choose your format and full-track or loop options, then use Apply & download when your settings have changed. It creates the new result before saving. If processing fails or you cancel it, the previous audio is not downloaded. To listen first, use Apply changes, compare the result, then Download audio.

Does my song leave this device?

The file is read, decoded and processed in your browser. This tool does not send your audio to an upload or conversion server. Your audio is held in memory until you replace it, clear it or close the page. Read the privacy details.

Does this detect the song's key or tune individual notes?

No. It shifts the whole recording by your chosen interval. It does not detect melody notes, identify your vocal range, remove vocals or apply note-by-note Auto-Tune. You can choose an original and target key manually, or enter known melody/voice bounds in the tool’s range helper. The key guide explains how to find those bounds.
